Kubuntu Long-Term Support release cycles last for three (3) years. The release code is shown in the format YYYY.MM
. Kubuntu 24.04 LTS was released in April 2024 and is supported through April 2027. Kubuntu 22.04 LTS was released in April 2022 and is supported through April 2025.
All systems that were shipped with 22.04 LTS remain supported on that version. Kubuntu Focus Suite 24.04 LTS validation was finalized 2024-07-18 on all prior supported models, and it is now from the the Try Kubuntu Focus page.
See the Model Matrix to get the support duration and status for all models released. See the Validation Overview for a listing of the components tested during the 3+ year support period.
Get the convenience, performance, and reliability only available when the OS and tools are expertly integrated, documented, supported, and maintained for the hardware:
Conveniently browse, install, and open Curated Apps with a click. The system securely takes all the steps needed to launch your selection, including downloading secure keys, adding the repo, installing the package, adjusting groups, and starting the software.
Conveniently accomplish hard tasks with Focus GUI Tools. With just a few clicks, run an AI test suite, fine-tune power controls, sync all attached displays, snapshot or restore your system disk, and many more.
Conveniently get authoritative advice fast with Guided Solutions. Our team writes and maintains these searchable HOWTOs specifically for your Focus hardware. They are truly next-level when compared to forum posts which are often outdated, sub-optimal, or even harmful to your system.
Get peak performance with highly researched optimizations applied to every Focus model. If you move a disk from one Focus system to another, the OS reconfigures to the hardware on the next boot. Adjustments include kernel parameters, GPU drivers, input devices, app settings, screen density, and many others. These are maintained and enhanced though normal software updates.
Rely on Focus validation to keep your system running. We test updates so they only apply after we've validated them for all Focus systems, including yours! This includes all kernel updates, and all major updates to GPU drivers, desktops, and popular apps. For example, when upstream proposes an updated kernel, we make sure sleep-resume, BlueTooth, Wi-Fi, multiple-displays, and hundreds of other features continue to work before you ever see it.
Rely on high-quality, Linux-compatible components. Examples include Intel CPUs, AX201 and 211 discrete WI-FI cards, and Nvidia GPUs. These GPUs provide the advanced features that pro users require, such as CUDA, OptiX, and cuDNN.
Rely on Kubuntu LTS, an official Ubuntu Flavor renowned for its stability and incredibly broad support. For example, you can use almost all docs from KDE, Kubuntu, AskUbuntu (non-Gnome), and, of course, Kubuntu Focus without modification.
Rely on deployment compatibility. Write once and deploy to servers, containers, or AWS with industry-standard Ubuntu LTS. Skip the error-prone emulators, library hacks, and separate tool chains required with proprietary laptops.
Rely on a team of Linux experts who understand the needs of developers and business. We strive to fix issue correctly the first time. We pour that experience into software optimizations, HOWTOs, and updates.
Model are support for a minimum of 3 years after last sale. We maintain bench systems for each and test updates on them. This includes all distribution updates, kernel updates (with extensive peripheral tests), major graphics drivers updates, Focus tools, and major desktop updates. We release important updates only after we’ve tested them for your hardware. We work with KDE, Kubuntu, Ubuntu, and other teams to help fix issues too. Actions include submitting and tracking bugs, testing and reporting, creating feature proposals, developing code changes, and even assembling kernel patches.
The Focus Team performs validation in good faith to deliver better and more reliable software; however, this cannot change the Terms of Use of any software package. Please see this page for instructions on how to locate the terms for each package.
The Focus Team runs extensive automated and manual tests when the upstream proposes any kernel update. We test many external and internal devices, connectors, and usage scenarios.
The Focus Team runs extensive automated and manual tests when the upstream proposes major update to KDE Plasma or Frameworks.
The Focus Team runs extensive automated and manual tests when the upstream proposes a major update to GPU drivers. We also coordinate the integration of CUDA, ML, and AI libraries with the official Ubuntu GPU drivers.
* Validation support extends for a minimum of 3 years after the last date of sale for each model.
