The numerous ports and expandability are refreshing in a time where many laptops have components soldered to the motherboard and offer only a few USB-C ports.

Customers can order upgrades, but to ensure a premium user experience we do not provide downgrades. In other words, if you want 64GB RAM and an RTX 2080 you’re covered, but we won’t ship with a slower NVMe drive because we found the stock Evo 860 was too slow; upgrading to the Evo 970 Plus decreased the sleep and resume times from 10 seconds to around 3 seconds.

Performance Summary

Results for popular benchmarks are provided for comparison. If for some reason you find a serious deviation, please let us know and we can investigate. All tests were run with the power plugged-in and set to Performance mode using the CPU frequency widget included in the system tray.

We found the CPU performance to be ~20% better than the i7-9750H average in both single and multi-core scores. This is probably due to superior cooling compared to many laptops that use slimmer chassis. A summary of all results are presented below followed by detailed sections.

Basemark Vulkan shows 30/46/520 min/avg/max FPS and scored 4632. Basemark OGL shows 12/50/129 min/avg/max FPS and scored 4964.

GeekBench 4.4.2

A typical GeekBench 4 run shows scores of 5,845 (single-core) and 23,751 (multi-score). Running with Intel security firmware patches and found the scores were increased by less than 2%.

GeekBench 5.0.4

A typical Geekbench 5.0.4 run shows scores of 1,209 (single-core) and 5,717 (multi-core). Compared to a similarly equipped MBP we see an advantage of 31.1% in single core and 11.5% in multi-core. This competes extremely well with the i9-9880H 8-core model as well.

GFX Bench GL

Over 251 FPS in Car Chase and 972 FPS in T-Rex at 1080p.

Unigine Superposition

Tests run with both a 144Hz and 60Hz panel setting and found no significant difference except in medium settings, where the 144MHz refresh resulted in a 12% boost in performance. The GPU never exceeded 70C. More aggressive cooling settings using Nvidia Settings could provide additional performance at the cost of additional fan noise.

Ultra Settings

Results are 80.9 frames per second (FPS) average, 9.5 FPS minimum, and 144.7 FPS maximum. Score is 2037. The GPU maintained a maximum temperature of 68C.

Medium Settings

Results are 133.8 FPS average, 10.4 FPS minimum and 234.5 FPS maximum. Score is 3369. The GPU again maintained a maximum temperature of 68C.
