System Support

As of June 2024, all new models ship with the Kubuntu Focus Suite 24.04. This version is supported with ongoing feature enhancements through its support period ending in April 2027. The prior release, Kubuntu Focus Suite 22.04, remains supported in maintenance mode (no new features) until April 2025. This matches the support cycle for Kubuntu LTS.

All new KFocus hardware ships with Kubuntu 24.04 LTS.

Supported OSes

As of June 2024, all new models ship with the Kubuntu Focus Suite 24.04. This version is supported with ongoing feature enhancements through its support period ending in April 2027. The prior release, Kubuntu Focus Suite 22.04, remains supported in maintenance mode (no new features) through April 2025. This matches the support cycle for Kubuntu LTS.

Kubuntu Long-Term Support release cycles last for three (3) years. The release code is shown in the format YYYY.MM. Kubuntu 24.04 LTS was released in April 2024 and is supported through April 2027. Kubuntu 22.04 LTS was released in April 2022 and is supported through April 2025.

Kubuntu 24.04 LTS is supported through April 2027. Kubuntu 22.04 LTS is supported through April 2025.

Transitioning 22.04 to 24.04

Kubuntu Focus Suite 24.04 was released on 2024-07-18. It is available from the Try Kubuntu Focus page. It is supported on all systems within their respective support window, as shown in the Model Matrix. See the Validation Overview for a listing of the components tested during the 3+ year support period.

Kubuntu Focus Suite 22.04 remains supported until May 2025, when support for Kubuntu 22.04 LTS officially ends.

Validated Systems

Only dedicated Hardware Integration and Validated Updates can provide the convenience, performance, and reliability to rival proprietary systems.

• Hardware Selection    ensures only highly reliable, compatible components. Examples include Intel CPUs, AX211 discrete WI-FI cards, iRIS Xe iGPUs, and Nvidia dGPUs with pro features like CUDA, OptiX, and cuDNN.
• Hardware Integration    applies hardware-optimization settings to every Focus system. Adjustments include kernel parameters, GPU drivers, input devices, app settings, screen density, and many others. If you move a disk from one Focus system to another, this tool will reconfigure to the hardware on the next boot.
• Validated Updates    ensures Focus system keeps working reliably for a minimum of 3 years after purchase. For example, when upstream proposes a new kernel version, we validate sleep-resume, BlueTooth, Wi-Fi, audio over HDMI, multiple-displays, and hundreds of other features for each model. If there’s an unacceptable regression, we fix it before releasing the update.
• Packaged Admin    conveniently fixes to your system through normal software updates from our signed repository. If a wrapper script is required to make a commercial video conference app work, or a 3rd-party repo key needs updating, we fix and package solutions promptly. All you need to do is update.
• Focus Tools    make hard tasks easy and convenient. With just a few clicks you can, for example, snapshot your system disks, run an AI test suite, fine-tune power controls, vsync all attached displays, run FocusRx System Repair, and many more.
• Curated Apps    makes finding, installing, and opening a recommended app as convenient as it gets. Just click on an app icon and the app opens. If not found, the system automates all the steps to get it installed properly. For example, it may install keys, add a repository, install a package, and add the user to a group before launching an app.
• Searchable Guided Solutions    provide excellent answers grouped by topic. Our team writes and maintains these HOWTOs specifically for your Focus system. Compared to typical forum posts, we think you will find these refreshingly correct, up-to-date, and dependable.
• Write once and deploy to servers, containers, or AWS, with industry-standard Kubuntu LTS. Skip the error-prone emulators, library hacks, and separate tool chains required with proprietary systems. As an official Ubuntu flavor   , Kubuntu enjoys incredibly broad support. For example, you can use almost all docs from KDE, Kubuntu, AskUbuntu (non-Gnome), and, of course, Kubuntu Focus, without modification.
